A Week in Vegas That Reminded Us Why Community Matters in College Rodeo

Cowboy Entrepreneur, Scott Knudsen and Hailey Knudsen spotting!
As we left the Team Wyoming Breakfast at the Rio, I stalkingly commented as these strangers walked by that "hey, I follow you!" And I got to meet Cowboy Entrepreneur, Scott Knudsen and his daughter Hailey Knudsen. Being more intentional, and maybe a little awkward allowed me to network with a few new people last week.

Every December, Las Vegas becomes the center of the rodeo world. The Wrangler National Finals Rodeo brings together athletes, families, coaches, and industry leaders from across the country, and this year was a powerful reminder of why the rodeo community is so special.

For Bullfrog Recruiting Solutions, this is the second year we have been at the NFR Watch Party at the Westgate Las Vegas and, just like last year, it was so much more than a sponsorship. It was about showing up where our community already gathers and contributing to an experience that celebrates the sport and the people behind it. And, as I found out, this is the place that people are collaborating with those in the industry that may just be getting their start; from announcers to musicians!

I was reminded how consistently God shows up, even in Las Vegas. Amid the noise and fast pace of the week, being able to attend a church service with the PRCA Men’s Bible Study group was a powerful reset and honor. Worshipping alongside members of the rodeo community, including Dusty Tuckness, Sam Peterson, Anthony Lucia, and Skip Ransom reinforced the importance of faith, fellowship, and accountability in a sport and week that demands so much.

At Bullfrog Recruiting Solutions, I have intentionally kept God at the center of my business, recognizing that the gifts I have been given, the passions I feel strongly to pursue, and the convictions that have been placed on my heart is not my own doing. Moments like these serve as a reminder for all of us of where our purpose comes from and why keeping faith at the foundation matters, both personally and professionally.

The Westgate Experience & College Rodeo

The Westgate has long been a cornerstone of NFR week, and this year was no exception. Hearing the origin story of the event confirms that this is the perfect fit for Bullfrog Recruiting Solutions to continue to be a part of. As the host hotel for the Junior NFR, the energy throughout the property reflected the future of rodeo. Young athletes, families, and supporters filled the halls, creating an environment that felt both electric and grounded in tradition.

It is still surreal to see the Bullfrog Recruiting Solutions logo in this scene. I am so blessed to be able to pursue my passion of building relationships in the western lifestyle.

Being at the Westgate during this time allowed Bullfrog Recruiting an opportunity to connect with families who are actively navigating the rodeo pipeline - from junior rodeo all the way to college and beyond. It reinforced why early education, strong relationships, and access to the right information matter so much in this sport.

A First-Class Watch Party

The Westgate NFR Watch Party brought the rodeo community together each night in a way that felt authentic and welcoming. The event is professionally produced by Espuela Productions, whose attention to detail and understanding of rodeo culture made the experience seamless and engaging.

Before the event even started, my correspondence with the talented Carsyn Hodde was professional and helpful. She not only scheduled every musical act of the week but also put extra effort into making sure our College Rodeo Social event was well organized. We partnered with Learfield College Rodeo to put this networking event together. The organizers during the Watch Party, Ashlynn and Francene were amazingly attentive and encouraging. Which, as it turns out, is so helpful as I try to get myself and Bullfrog Recruiting Solutions in front of and into these industry circles. The Emcees of the night, Guy Bell and Skip Ransom, guided the crowd through each event and performance; adding insight, humor, and context that only seasoned rodeo voices can bring. Their presence, chemistry and humor on stage helped turn a watch party into a full- on experience - one where fans weren’t just watching the NFR, they were part of it.

Learning and Looking Ahead at Rodeo’s Next Up Conference

In addition to the watch party, Bullfrog Recruiting Solutions also attended the Rodeo’s Next Up Conference, an event organized by the team at Las Vegas Events as well as Western Sports Foundation. This event focused on the future of rodeo and athlete development. Sessions on leadership, branding, sponsorships, mental performance, and long-term career planning highlighted a growing shift in the industry: rodeo athletes are being encouraged to think beyond the arena. Which, if you've been around Bullfrog Recruiting, you know is a big focus of ours!

The conversations at the conference reinforced many of the values Bullfrog was built on - preparation, education, and intentional growth. It was encouraging to see so many leaders invested in helping athletes succeed not just inside the arena but also outside the arena.

Why This Week Mattered to Bullfrog Recruiting Solutions

NFR week is busy. It’s loud. It’s fast-paced. It's alot for this 'ole grey mare and that's a story for another time. It was tiring and deeply meaningful.

Being present at the Westgate, supporting the watch party, attending Rodeo’s Next Up, and connecting with families and industry leaders reminded us why Bullfrog Recruiting exists in the first place: to bridge the gap between opportunity and understanding in college rodeo.

From junior rodeo families asking questions for the first time, to college athletes thinking about what comes next, this week in Vegas highlighted the importance of community, mentorship, and access to the right resources.

Looking Forward

As the dust settles on another NFR and year, Bullfrog Recruiting Solutions is grateful for the chance to be part of such a strong, supportive rodeo community. Experiences like this reaffirm our commitment to helping athletes and families navigate the college rodeo journey with confidence and clarity. We look forward to 2026 and keep an eye open for the future growth of the platform!

Thank you to the Westgate Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Espuela Productions, Guy Bell, Skip Ransom, Carsyn, Ashlynn, Francene and everyone who made this week one to remember. I'm excited to carry these conversations and connections forward into the year ahead. I believe that those at the top don't compete they collaborate and I can't wait to see what these connections will allow us to do next!

I wish each and every one of you a blessed Christmas Season and a reminder to set your goals high for 2026! I'm here to support you, as a coach or a student athlete or parent every step of the way.
